    four eyes

    by
    sarah jean alexander

You say you want to sleep outside
    after you get off work,
and all I can think about is
          you, naked on your roof,
          skin turning bright pink
as sweat drips into your eyes.

    We’ve connected five different ways
    over three days,
          via gchat
          via facebook
          via skype,
          via two other forms
    of non-committal communication,

    and I’m already picturing
    -      my head in your lap
    -      your cat on my head
    -      a joint being rolled above my face, and
    -      ash in my eyes,

a foggy mixture of smoke and sweat.
